  • How often should I change my air filter?

In our experience, a 1-inch filter should be changed once a month. However, a 4-inch filter can last up to a year.

Give us a call today at Bill's Comfort Systems if you have any questions about AC installation or maintenance.

  • My furnace does not work. What should I do?

First, make sure you have power and that the thermostat has batteries. If those are working, then call us for a furnace replacement or repair.

  • Someone said I have a cracked heat exchanger. What do I have to do?

A cracked heat exchanger is very rare. You should turn the furnace off, then call us for a second opinion. We can let you know if you need a furnace replacement or repairs.

  • My AC is frozen. What should I do?

Turn off the cool setting on the thermostat. Then, check to make sure you have a clean filter. After 24 hours, it should work. If the problem persists, call us for a new AC installation or repairs.

  • What kind of filter should I buy?

Following your AC installation, a MERV 8 pleated air filter would be our recommendation.

  • How do I get cleaner air in my house?

To get cleaner air in your house without a new AC installation, we do not recommend a 1-inch filter. There are a variety of options to clean the air in your home. Call us to get a free quote!

  • When should I buy a new furnace or air conditioner?

On average, the lifespan is 15-18 years, in our experience. However, according to Forbes, a furnace typically lasts 15 to 20 years. We have many customers that get a longer lifespan than that. You never want to have to make an urgent decision. If your system is on the older side, call us to get it serviced. We can also install a new furnace replacement.

  • Should I leave my pilot light on in my fireplace?

Yes! To avoid service calls related to fireplaces, we recommend leaving your pilot light on.

  • How often should I get a tune-up?

Manufacturers recommend a tune-up be done every year, in our experience. If you have a new furnace installation, you can wait two or three years. If you have not been serviced recently, we would recommend getting the system serviced as soon as possible.

  • How often should I service my fireplace?

We recommend servicing your fireplaces every three years. If you have not had your fireplace serviced recently, give us a call.
